It's been a busy few weeks for our Argyll & Bute teams. We have been delivering a suite of training to school staff from across the area. The 3-part structure included:
Resilient Mental Health: A framework for understanding the development of psychological wellbeing in children and young people.
Resilience Audit - Primary
Primary Programmes Training; Dragon Mountain, I Matter, Inside Out and Friendship Shield
A key prerequisite to any of our training is our introductory session- Resilient Mental Health: A framework for understanding the development of psychological wellbeing in children and young people.

This course provides an introduction to the three distinct categories of mental health and the 15 key psychological resources that contribute to building resilience. This is a structured framework, complemented by practical insights drawn from experience and evidence-based theory, ensuring a well-rounded and actionable understanding of resilience and mental well-being.

Clara and Bea spent two days in Inverary facilitating our BEAR Primary Resilience Assessment Training.
Clara noted:
”the group shared that they found the training hugely beneficial and that it gave them something new to added to their toolbox. Having a mixed group of staff in different roles provided rich discussions and a great learning environment for participants"
The training encompassed a range of activities and peer working to equip staff with the knowledge and skills to assess, evaluate, and develop actionable strategies for building resilience in primary-aged children.
As one attendee shared:
"Loved all of it. Very relaxed atmosphere so I could take in and be be part of without feeling judged or worried I was asking wrong questions. Great communication skills from instructors too."
The sessions focused on key learning objectives:
• Apply six essential principles to assess resilience in primary school children
• Develop confidence and proficiency in using the BEAR Assessment Cards and Toolkit
• Conduct a comprehensive resilience audit using BEAR Cards
• Design a targeted resilience action plan to support children effectively

Our upcoming programme training sessions will guide staff in how to put their knowledge into practice, by utilising specific programmes to target areas of resilience.
